UPHOLSTERY CLEANING MADE SIMPLE

 Since you don’t typically walk on your furniture, the evident need for furniture cleaning is not the same as your carpet. Typically the cleaning frequency will be less with furniture than carpet. However, when the need does come up, I’m the guy to call. I have personally cleaned over 3,000 pieces of furniture in the last 30 years, and am what you would call “experienced”. Unlike some of the fabrics being used in the 70’s, most furniture fabric today is less fragile and easier to clean. And, the equipment available now is so much nicer than the old stuff. It is easy for me to do a thorough cleaning on your furniture right in your home, and have it dry often within one hour of finishing the cleaning.

If you have microfiber furniture, please read this carefully.  Microfiber is usually made from polyester which is easy to clean.  You can just take a slightly damp washrag and usually clean spots off easily.  However, two things you need to watch out for.  One, polyester is very oleophilic, which means it “likes” oil.  If you have a mechanic in the family, or have a chance of getting oil/grease on your furniture, microfiber is not a good idea.  The oil will get sucked in to the fabric, and is very difficult to remove.  The second thing to be careful of is spilling hot liquids on the material, it can cause permanent distortion to the affected area.   Also, if you still have any Haitian cotton furniture, the tendency for yellowing will continue to increase as the fibers break down over time.
